Neuritis is the inflammation and/or deterioration
of a nerve or group of nerves. It is often part of a
degenerative illness such as leukemia. Neuritis can result in muscle
weakness and atrophy, loss of sensation, and loss of reflexes.
Muscles served by the affected nerve are usually quite tender to
pressure. The skin over the affected muscle group may become glossy
looking, and the affected area of the body may cease to perspire
normally. A condition known as foot-drop may occur, in which the toes
drag on the ground as the individual walks, caused by weakness or
paralysis of muscles in the foot and ankle. The causes of neuritis are
varied and can include nutritional deficiencies, especially a lack of
the B vitamins; metabolic imbalances; a direct blow or nearby bone
fracture; infection involving a nerve; diseases such as
diabetes,
gout, and leukemia; ingestion of methyl
alcohol; and toxic levels of metals such as lead and mercury (colon
cleansing maybe good to do as these toxins accumulate there)
Neuritis can occur in persons of any age and either sex, but the
incidence is highest in men between 30 - 50 years old. It can begin
rapidly, especially in cases caused by severe and/or chronic infection
or by alcohol intoxication, but that is not the norm. Symptoms
include: pain, tingling, and loss of sensation in the affected nerve
area; swelling & redness. And may in severe cases cause
convulsions. Optic neuritis occurs when inflammation affects the optic
nerve of the eyes, that causes either gradual or sudden blurring and
loss of vision. Also in severe cases, blindness may even occur,
although this is usually temporary, especially with prompt treatment.

Importance
( 1 - 10 ) |
Helpful notes |
Essential
Fatty acids |
10 |
They
aid in the transmission of
nerve impulses throughout the body and are needed for normal brain
function. Good sources of essential fatty acids include fish oil, flax seed, and borage seed. |
Taurine |
8 |
it
is an amino
acid which has a protective effect on the brain. Excessive loss of taurine
in the body can be the result of low zinc. Taurine is often used in
supplements for Neuritis and other nerve diseases or
related disorders. |
B
Vitamin complex |

the
B vitamin family is very important for the proper function of
both your brain and nervous system.
Supplements with natural vitamin B can help with
depression, neuritis, worry,
anxiety, and mood swings. |
Magnesium |
8 |
this
mineral has a calming effect on the body and
on the nervous system of people with nervous problems, depression,
and related health problems. Magnesium works well in
combination with vitamin B and calcium. |
