Macular
degeneration is an eye disorder causes a progressive visual loss due
to degeneration of the macula, which is the part of the eye's retina responsible for
fine vision. Macular degeneration is the leading cause of severe vision loss in both the USA and in Europe. This
loss of vision may appear suddenly or it may progress slowly. Normally, the person's peripheral
and color vision are unaffected. The two types of macular degeneration: are: Atrophic “dry”
and Exudative “wet”. In exudative, the
degeneration of the macula occurs with hemorrhaging or leaking of fluid from small blood
vessels that develop beneath the center of the retina. Resulting in scarring and
vision loss. Macular
degeneration is probably the result of free radical damage similar to
the type of damage that causes cataracts. Things that make a person
more vulnerable a person to getting macular degeneration include: aging,
atherosclerosis,
hypertension, and
environmental toxins. Heredity may
play a role as well. Because, toxins play a role a colon and intestinal
cleansing maybe helpful, as toxins have a tendency to accumulate in that part of the body and then affect other areas of the
body.
